    Christian Counseling

Is the Bible the foundation of your life? Do you desire therapy services, but have concerns that your faith will be disregarded or devalued? Do you have concerns for the techniques your therapist will use and wonder if they will be in opposition to your closely held beliefs? Do you desire to speak with a professional about your Christian walk and how it operates in the grit of daily life? Please know, I understand.

As a believer and follower of Christ for three decades, I understand the conflict between your faith and postmodern counseling psychology. What I love about counseling and the work I am privileged to do, is the fact that Biblical principles are upheld in sound psychological practice. My methodology will validate the truths of Scripture. My job is my calling. Seeing God’s Word unfold and transform my Christian clients is an inexpressible joy for me!

In Christian Counseling we will explore concerns through a holistic lens, investigating the multiple influences that impact behavior and decision making. We will explore standards from God’s Word and resulting sound psychological principles that flow from these truths. Structure is provided through the creation of goals which provides accountability and a means to measure progress, which we celebrate! We will gently and compassionately investigate God’s Word for your situation which encourages and challenges you to move forward in your walk.

Many of the common therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy can be based on values espoused by Scripture: We are called to “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2), to “spur one another on toward love and good deeds…” (Hebrews 10:24), and to “forget the things which are past…” (Isaiah 43:18), all of which are a part of the Christian counseling process.

For those Christian clients who desire prayer and use of Scripture in session, this will be honored. For those who have been spiritually hurt, and prayer and Scripture have been used as a weapon against you to control you, this too, will be honored. My joy and calling is to meet you in your Christian journey, and to join you as we find a “way through the wilderness…” (Psalm 136:16).

While I am not a pastor, I hold a Bible Certificate from Bethany School of Missions, and have passed the American Association of Christian Counselors “Caring for People God’s Way” curriculum. Applying spiritual principles that resonate with evidenced based psychological technique is my role as a Christian therapist. Deeper theological questions are better suited for a trained pastor.
